Haitian Music Microfinance Project Benefit

Haitian compas

image of artist

Join us for a night of music to benefit the Haitian Music Microfinance Project in response to the earthquake. Emeline Michel has emerged as the reigning queen of Haitian song, merging native Haitian compas and rara with jazz, pop, bossa nova and samba. A captivating performer, versatile vocalist, accomplished dancer, songwriter and producer, Emeline sings in French and Haitian Creole, and her world-wide concerts and seven CD recordings have catapulted her to international acclaim. She'll be joined on the bill by Zili Mizik, one of the Northeast's most popular Haitian based dance bands, and Samba Tremeterra, playing the wildly infectious percussion music of Brazilian Carnival.
