"Johnny IS Good!: For music or munchies, Johnny D’s is a classic! The Greater Boston area has a lot of fine music rooms and a lot of fine eateries. Few of them, however, offer both. Thank goodness for Johnny D’s in Somerville’s ever-hip and comfy Davis Square! While other places in town offer Jazz, Blues, Rock, Funk, Swing, Rockabilly, Reggae, OR World music, nobody mixes it up and matches your mood so consistently. For the musically adventurous or just plain open minded, it is always a safe bet and a great place to hang out, dance and/or (emphasis on the ‘and’) dine (see more).

"This family owned and operated establishment is one of the best places in the area for live music. You’ll kick yourself if you don’t at least check it out while you’re in town."
–Frommer’s Guide to Boston
"Homey, Funky, Eclectic and Historic — and it features hot live music 7 nights a week."
–Boston Globe Calendar
"Johnny D’s has become one of the hottest music clubs in the Northeast because it is among the most adventurous."
–The Boston Globe
"It isn’t the Copacabana, but Johnny D’s comes pretty close in a funky, Somerville kind of way. Top-notch live musicians (Sleepy La Beef, Joan Osborne, Bill Frisell) and other national blues, jazz, and
folk artists perform while you sup on contemporary cuisine such as chicken served over pasta with goat cheese, black olives, and sun-dried tomatoes."
–New England Travel Guide
"The premiere roots-music club in Boston, and one of the best in the country."
–The Boston Globe
"Pancakes as large as plates are served up every Saturday and Sunday at this club, which is fast becoming known for its great food as well as good music. Don’t miss the organic multigrain pancakes with dates,
walnuts, and raisins. Order a short stack and a side of great home fries while you enjoy the gentle jazz guitar."
